A VILLAGER from the Sha Tin Rural Committee yesterday promised a hostile reception for Ms Loh.

The villager, who would not identify himself, said: ''We will prepare a warm welcoming party for her.'' He declined to elaborate.

''I am not an office-bearer [a triad society rank] here, but I can promise they will be more hostile and not so polite,'' he said.

However, Ms Loh found support in Kak Tin village - population about 300 - where resident Tsang Kwok-fai said the men had allowed women to inherit decades ago. He thought violence there would be unlikely should Ms Loh visit.

But Tang Mui, of Wing Ning Tsuen, who has been fighting to inherit her father's assets, advised Ms Loh to seek protection for her visit.

''I think she should seek bodyguards or a police escort if she comes. Lee Wing-tat was attacked. She has to protect herself,'' she said.
