Mixed feelings about government

About 29 per cent of Hongkongers feel positive towards their local government, while 16 per cent feel negative. Some 41 per cent of 2,000 people interviewed this month by Hong Kong University's public opinion programme feel positive about the central government, while 11 per cent feel negative. The Thai government is the least popular of 12 overseas governments, with only 9 per cent expressing positive feelings towards it, while 36 per cent feel positive towards the British government.

Firms lack responsibility: poll

The public scores Hong Kong companies low on corporate social responsibility. The Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong this month asked 456 people to rate the social responsibility of local firms on a five-point scale, with one being the worst and five the best. More than 47 per cent gave one or two points, with the average being 2.54.
