Consultation day at PolyU to offer guidance to applicants

Polytechnic University will hold a consultation day for applicants for full-time, government-funded degree and sub-degree programmes tomorrow. The event will allow Joint University Programmes Admissions System applicants to obtain updated information on the university's programmes. Applicants can rearrange their programme choices before Monday. Academic departments will deliver seminars and guided visits to help students finalise their decision. Students lack Legco knowledge

A survey conducted by student welfare group Hok Yau Club has revealed that half of secondary students polled lacked knowledge about the role of the Legislative Council. More than 2,700 Secondary One to Seven students were covered in the survey. More than 50 per cent said they did not know any of the serving legislators. More than 80 students mistook former legislators, government officials and district councillors for serving legislators.

Schools praised for green efforts

Forty-one secondary and primary schools and kindergartens were commended this week by the government for their contribution to conservation. The schools are participating in the Greening School Subsidy Scheme organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, which provides funds for schools to organise green activities such as tree planting.
