Third of lawmakers believe their staff are underpaid, overworked

A third of lawmakers questioned for a survey believed their staff were underpaid and overworked, the Legco Secretariat said. Of the 12 legislators interviewed, 75 per cent said one main reason they found it difficult to retain staff was low pay. Lawmakers can claim more than HK$1.5 million a year to run their offices and pay staff, but many complain that this is not enough.
