Reach for the stars with astronomy
You may have already made plans for the summer holidays. Some of you may be travelling overseas on exchange visits or on holiday.
If you plan to stay in Hong Kong, I have a great suggestion. Why don't you join astronomy camps run by local universities?
You might know that 2009 is the International Year of Astronomy.
I am surprised that an international city like Hong Kong doesn't include astronomy in the school curriculum. In many countries, such as the United States, Japan, Britain and Canada, students learn about shooting stars, constellations, and many other things about the universe in primary school.
You could argue that astronomy is a kind of hobby and it does not help students to boost their academic standards.
