The principal of Pegasus school in Yau Tong yesterday hinted he may have to step down, as the secondary school section is likely to be hived off after a new sponsoring body takes charge.

Thomas Lee Poon-shing, principal of Pegasus Philip Wong Kin Hang Christian Primary School cum Junior Secondary School, yesterday issued a letter of appreciation to school staff.

'The Pegasus school has a secondary section and that is why it needed a principal that has qualifications to run a secondary school to lead it. I have the qualifications and that is why I came,' Mr Lee wrote.

'But according to Secretary for Education Michael Suen Ming-yeung, the school will become a primary school. I probably will not work here for long. But I have no regrets. Though I only worked for the school for a short time, I believe this is the most meaningful time I have had in my career in education.'

He also quoted a motto from TVB Jade drama Rosy Business: '[No matter] how much time one has in life, it is vital to live it to the full.'

Mr Lee expressed gratitude to colleagues. 'You all had to endure enormous pressure and worry about students' studies, your own job security and the future of the school. But you all honoured your duties very well and comforted our students so that their studies were not affected. I am very grateful for that,' he said.
