Slumdog Millionaire child star Ayush Mahesh Khedekar did not have time to say much on arrival in Hong Kong yesterday - except that the place he most wanted to see was Disneyland.
The young actor, who played Jamal in the Oscar-winning movie, was whisked away by staff from TVB and the Community Chest soon after he arrived with co-stars Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail (Salim) and Rubina Ali (Latika), with barely time to say 'Hi'.
The trio were met by a large crowd of journalists after their overnight flight from Mumbai, but seemed unperturbed by the attention and flashing cameras. Airport travellers also snapped pictures.
They also posed for pictures with Billy Kong Churk-hoi, deputy chairman of the Community Chest executive committee, and TV stars Chan Sin-yeung and Samantha Ko Hoi-ling. The children, whose expenses are being met by private companies, are in town to appear at Community Chest fund-raisers.
Meanwhile, Rubina is to publish her life story, Associated Press reported. Transworld Publishers in London said she would tell the story of growing up in New Delhi's shantytowns.
