Higher salaries don't necessarily ensure employee engagement

'There is no doubt money plays an important factor in motivating and energising staff, but it is not the only factor, especially in this economy. Employers need to think about more non-monetary factors to engage staff. Providing a fun workplace and developing friendly relations among co-workers are also important. Our company practises a 4-T model: To listen, to love, to learn and to live. The model preaches effective communication with staff to learn about their views on how the company can do better. It's also meant to provide a meaningful career path for staff. Apart from the money, providing bright career prospects are also important in retaining talent.'

'Most management in finance believes high salaries don't guarantee employee engagement. We believe other factors can strengthen the bonds between employers and employees. An Australian study revealed that the most important attributes that employees valued about their job were opportunities for advancement, quality training, a clear career path and leadership of the company. We believe that by providing employees with those attributes, employees will be motivated and think twice before they leave the company. It is important for management to recognise the achievements of employees and make them feel proud of working for the organisation.'
