You should allocate some time to prepare for your interview - often it is the interview  that determines the outcome.  Conduct yourself well and you'll find the doors to your dreams  are opening.
The power of questions
Consider possible questions that you may be asked. Write down what your responses to those questions may be.  It isn't good enough to merely have them in your head - write them out so you can be clear. 
Questions that are often asked include:
Can you tell me about yourself?
Why are you interested in this particular field of study?
What are your strengths?
What is a weakness that you have?
Tell me about a particular achievement you have made?
Why should we admit you to our school/university?
Be prepared to respond to any questions regarding the marks you obtained. For example: 'Why did you excel in certain subjects while achieving average marks in others?'
Don't blame others. Show  you are able to take responsibility for your life and the results you achieve. To this end, saying  your maths teacher was unable to communicate well -  even if it was true - is not as impressive as  talking about the steps you took to overcome the obstacle. 
Rehearse
Find someone - a friend, one of your parents or a trusted mentor - to act as the interviewer. Let them ask you the questions. After you've responded to the questions, ask them about your performance - where you did well and  how you could improve. 
But bear in mind  that criticising yourself too harshly may have a detrimental effect on your performance. Therefore, it is important to have someone whose judgment you trust to evaluate you. This will  give you a more balanced view.
Get the details right
You'll be making a first impression - so make sure it is a positive one. 
Take along a neatly typed resume  listing your background and accomplishments, such as leadership positions held during your school career, and any part-time occupations which may be relevant.
Carry these reference documents with you in a business-type folder.  Keep copies in case you are asked to  submit them and  cannot get them back.
Make sure you are clear about  where the interview will be taking place and  you arrive well in time for it.  
Excellent preparation will help you to feel calm and relaxed when the interview actually takes place.
It is worth investing the time and effort so that when you are required to  prove yourself during the interview, you can focus on being the best you can be.
