What is it? A new product range from Brazil created by Ivo Pitanguy, a professor who runs a surgery in Rio de Janiero and is said to be the 'father of aesthetic surgery' there. What's the rub? Pitanguy has a scientific-based, anti-ageing skincare range now available in Hong Kong. PreVious - The Cosmetic Lift focuses on fighting wrinkles, increasing firmness and radiance, reducing pigmentation and moisturising. Its aim is to prevent, protect and repair. At the heart of the formula is a peptide that has a specific extract of centella asiatica, organic silicium and vitamin E to regenerate and consolidate damaged skin and boost cellular function. Each product contains a different version of the 'hyperspecialised' peptide. For example, tripeptide Pt3 is a skin regenerator, hexapeptide PPt6 is a skin relaxer and hexapeptide Pt6 is a skin densifier. Organic silicium stimulates cell metabolism and vitamin E is an antioxidant that protects skin from the sun and pollution. Plant extracts, essential oils and 'active biotechnological ingredients' make up the rest of the products' contents. What about the products? The Rebalancing Formula - Creme Regenerante (HK$2,000/50ml) is for normal to dry skin types and has a whipped cream texture perfumed with essential oils, the company says. It is designed to nourish, moisturise and protect. The Face Lifting Formula (right, HK$1,800/50ml) is designed to improve 'inter-cellular communication' and regenerate skin. The Lifting Serum (HK$1,700/30ml) is said to smooth, lift and firm instantly. What else? The company says Pitanguy travels the globe passing on his skills to doctors in universities. He is the author of 1,000 scientific publications and has presented at more than 300 conferences around the world. He also offers his surgery free of charge to impoverished people in Rio and was honoured as the best surgeon in the world by the International Academy of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in 2005. Where can I buy it? Pitanguy's skincare and facial products are available exclusively at 5/F The Landmark Mandarin Oriental hotel spa, 15 Queen's Road, Central (tel: 2132 0011).
