I REFER to the letter headlined, ''Country parks are no place for motorbikes'' (South China Morning Post, February 28).
It is an offence under the Country Parks and Special Areas Regulations for any person to bring or drive any vehicle, including motorcycle and bicycle, within country parks and special areas unless with the permission of the Country Parks Authority.
Since January 1993, the Country Parks Authority has prosecuted nine persons for unauthorised riding of motorcycles in country parks.
We shall continue to take enforcement actions against such illegal activity in country park areas including the Plover Cove Country Park.
In order that action can be taken without delay, your readers are advised to report any sighting of cycling or motor-cycling on footpaths in country parks to our park wardens or the police as soon as possible. We shall also increase our frequency of patrol to the areas.
