Where can I buy 'Metalica' belts? And no, I don't mean the band. I'm thinking of something along the lines of a large buckle with studs/an angel/a crucifix on it.

Belt Bothers, Tseung Kwan O

The Dictator rules: Did you hear that? I think the world yawned with a communal feeling of boredom at your cliched, cheesy choice of a belt. What is this? Spinal Tap? The saddest part is that they are common, so don't bother going online and look locally instead. (For the record, we did a little research and found next to nothing on your obscure brand.) Go luxe with tough guy accessories emblazoned with cross motifs by Chrome Hearts (shop G31, Prince's Building, Central, tel: 2810 6932), including silver buckles (HK$8,500 and up) and leather belts (HK$2,650 and up). You could pick from a range of elaborate Harley Davidson belt buckles at Formula Sports (HK$298 to HK$788; shop 38, Peak Galleria, The Peak, tel: 2849 2845) and leather belt strap (HK$588). A name whispered among those in the know, John Richmond (shop D, 8 Hysan Avenue, Causeway Bay, tel: 3741 1292) rocks the look for HK$1,900 and up. More of a brand boaster? Yves Saint Laurent's latest belts are heavy on metalwork and drama (HK$2,840 to HK$4,280; shop G116, 11 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2377 2608). In addition to an excellent selection of jeans, Bauhaus carries a number of eye-catching belts by brands such as The Eighty Twenty, Tough Jeansmith and Papa K (HK$555 to HK$2,050; G/F, shop 2, Island Beverley, 1 Great George Street, Causeway Bay, tel: 2882 3551).

I've got a friend who is after some classic suede desert boots (aka chukka boots) and wondered if you knew of anywhere that stocks them.

Get Chukkad, Kennedy Town

The Dictator: You don't seem to know your chukkas from your desert boots. Both are lace-up ankle boots that were popular in the 1950s and both can be chunky given their origins. Desert boots date back to the footwear of the desert campaigns in the second world war. Chukkas refer to polo players' boots (a 'chukka' is a period of time in the game - get it?). The best fit for Mr Stylish would be desert boots by the oh-so-trendy Clarks Originals (HK$1,269 to HK$1,299; 522 Lockhart Road, Causeway Bay, tel: 2572 5112). Dunhill does them in soft beige or navy nubuck (HK$2,750; shop 318, Times Square, Causeway Bay, tel: 2506 0886) while New Peak Shoes stocks desert-style boots by, among others, Sebago (HK$1,099 to HK$1,299; shop 6, Peak Galleria, tel: 2849 6618). Department stores such as Sincere (Timberland, Columbia, Clarks, Stonefly, etc) and Wing On (CAT, Clarks, Geox, etc) are good places to survey several styles and brands in one go. For edgier updates on the theme, have a look at Damir Doma and N.Hollywood at I.T (HK$2,298 to HK$5,499; shop 301, Times Square, tel: 2506 0569).
