Perennial Hong Kong favourite crooners Air Supply were back in town over the weekend as part of their Never Ending Love tour, playing at the Convention and Exhibition Centre. Prior to the Friday night show, the duo of Graham Russell (left) and Russell Hitchcock entertained a press conference. For whatever reason though, the organisers felt a need to crowd the podium with numerous minor celebrities and beauty pageant winners. How else do you explain decorative flower pots like Leanne Li Yanan, Loretta Chow Mei-yan, Renee Dai Mung-mung and Wylie Chiu being at the event and posing with the romantic band famous for their lovey-dovey hits like Lost In Love, All Out Of Love and The One That You Love? The duo's three-day stay in town was at the JW Marriott, and the hotel obviously did its homework, learning that both musicians had birthdays in June. For that reason, a large chocolate cake in the shape of a guitar was presented by general manager Michael Nisky and head pastry chef Adam Ashe as a surprise gift to singer Hitchcock, whose birthday was last Friday (while Russell's was a day earlier). Obviously, producing smoochy ballads together for over 30 years suggests this is one band that know how to overcome any creative and personal differences. 'It's actually very hard for people to believe that we've never had a disagreement,' Hitchcock said. 'We see no reason to get into fights, and if we did, [Russell] would kill me because he's so big.' Perhaps that's the power of love.
