A range of off-the-beaten-track tours of the Philippines is being launched for the luxury traveller who is committed to protecting local culture and the environment. The organiser says the custom-made tours are aimed at bringing high-end tourists to destinations not usually destinations not covered by mass tourism. While enjoying cultural insights and meeting local people, the traveller can visit picturesque islands and stay at the private homes of the rich and famous. The tours are being organised from Hong Kong by luxury travel specialist Global Nomad, which was founded by philanthropist Angelica Berrie. The company aims to work with communities to promote environmental conservation and sustainable development. 'We customise each of our tours for small groups and seek out charming and unexpected locales with a strong sense of place, and we make them lavish and unforgettable. Beyond plasma TVs, our passion is creating meaningful experiences and authentic encounters with the environment and culture,' Ms Berrie said. 'We spend considerable time ensuring the enjoyment of every individual. Wherever we go, we connect our guests with local people and places, which are the heart and soul of our island experience.' Tour experiences range from dining barefoot under a full moon on an exposed sandbar to listening to children singing native songs and joining fishermen hauling in nets. Island villas or mountain getaways can also be arranged for weddings, family reunions and other special events, with event co-ordinators organising photographers, film crews, musicians, dancers, personal butlers, nannies or any other 'one-of-a-kind' experiences.
