DEBUTANT John Plumtree is of the opinion that every rugby player should one day experience the atmosphere of playing at the Hong Kong Sevens, writes Alvin Sallay.
''It is just fabulous. Every rugby player in the world should get the chance to experience something like this,'' said Kiwi-born Plumtree, who is playing a big role in South Africa's campaign here.
Playing for the first time at the Hong Kong Sevens, Plumtree also has the honour of becoming the first New Zealander to represent South Africa in rugby.
''It has been great for me. Not only did I feel delighted to run out in a Springbok strip, but to play at this superb stadium and at the Hong Kong Sevens is just wonderful,'' Plumtree said.
Used for his ball-winning capabilities, the Natal flanker also managed to score a crucial try against Canada in South Africa's second match.
Having thumped Thailand 63-0 in their opener earlier, the South Africans booked their berth for today's Cup quarter-finals against Fiji.
