The soundtrack to Hannah Montana: The Movie contains 18 tracks, but clocks in at just longer than an hour. There are country songs, as you would expect for a Hannah Montana/ Miley Cyrus record, but there's also Butterfly Fly Away, an amazingly sweet duet between Cyrus and her dad Billy Ray Cyrus, a few guitar and drum-based pop songs and even a piano-based ballad The Climb.
The songs by Steve Rushton, Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift which are used in the movie have also made their way onto this album. These cover the styles not covered by Hannah or Miley.
This is a great and varied selection of songs, regardless of whether or not you've bought into the whole Hannah Montana phenomenon.
Cyrus is generally seen as the next Hilary Duff. She has a far more impressive voice, though, which is at its best in Dream.
Hoedown Throwdown is an irresistible number - try to resist the call of your feet as Cyrus tells you to 'Pop it, lock it, polka dot it/ Countrify then hip hop it'. It's best to avoid listening to this in public, as you may look foolish.
The two Rascal Flatts songs, and those by the little-known Steve Rushton are excellent. In fact, the album's one failing is country starlet Taylor Swift's Crazier. It's just overshadowed by everything else.
