The 16-member squad had been scheduled to meet Saudi Arabia in their opening group D match at the inaugural Asian Youth Games last night.

According to the Games' website, the match and all others involving the Hong Kong team had been postponed until further notice.

The team, which left for Singapore on Saturday, originally comprised 18 members but two were left in Hong Kong after they were found at the airport to be suffering from fever.

A Hong Kong Football Association spokesman said it had contacted the team in Singapore and the infected players were in stable condition.

'We have informed the players' parents of the situation,' he said. 'The team is now under quarantine in Singapore and will stay there until they can come back to Hong Kong.'

On Sunday, 20 members of the Philippine team at the same tournament were quarantined at a Singapore resort after one of the players was found to have swine flu.
