Special delivery earns trio the stamp of approval

For Hongkong Post, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are among its most important customers.

Michael Suen Hei-wai, Hongkong Speedpost's sales manager and one of three winners of the Distinguished Salesperson Award, has been with the company for 31/2 years. He leads and develops a team of account executives to promote Speedpost, an international courier service, and other postal services to SMEs.

He believes SMEs are the backbone of Hong Kong's industries.

'Hong Kong is one of the most competitive regions in the world, and its success in the past has been supported by a lot of outstanding organisations and SMEs, with outstanding sales professionals in various industries,' Mr Suen said.

'We shall continue to provide value-for-money postal services to the public, commercial organisations and SMEs to sustain the success of Hong Kong.'

Among the challenges he faces is supporting customers to enhance their competitiveness in the market while surviving the economic downturn.

Ronan Tong Ka-yan, an account executive at Speedpost, has been with the company for two years. He promotes Speedpost and other postal services to customers and provides them with the best after-sales service he can offer.

Mr Tong believes that attention to detail is one of the keys to being successful in sales. 'Be attentive and confident and have excellent listening, communication and presentation skills,' he said.

Katrina Chan Mei-wa, account manager for corporate markets, has been with Hongkong Speedpost for 11/2 years. She manages accounts and does project management for corporate clients in both the public and private sectors.

'To be successful, it is necessary to be positive and not give up easily, no matter how difficult the situation is. Keep sharpening your selling skills and be attentive in order to master changes in the market environment, and to act as a consultant for your customers,' Ms Chan said.

'The postal services have rewarded me with job satisfaction.'
