What do you think of the Red Cross expansion plan?
I support the expansion plan, but the interests of the concerned stakeholders have to be considered ('Residents urge Red Cross to rethink plan', June 30).
Residents are concerned that a taller building will block their view and create a 'wall effect'.
They suggest that the poor traffic conditions in the area will hamper the work of the Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service.
They have also questioned the consultation process and believe that little effort has been made to choose a suitable site.
The Red Cross, as the sole provider of blood in the city, claims that demand for blood is increasing. The expansion plan therefore helps maintain the blood service.
I think the Red Cross should consider a site that is closely linked with the city's hospital network and is relatively free from traffic congestion. It should also ensure that it has minimum impact on residents.
