In the words of Alice Cooper, 'School's out for the Summer', and if you are in the mood to jam, pick up the latest Guitar Hero on Tour game for the Nintendo DS.
Guitar Hero on Tour: Modern Hits features a set list of 28 master tracks from artists such as Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Tenacious D, The Strokes and Weezer. The tracks were all released in the past five years, making the game ideal for those who have never heard of groups like Twisted Sister or Huey Lewis and the News.
The game comes with the 'Guitar Grip', which fits into the Gameboy Advance game cartridge slot located at the bottom of the DS. Along with the grip, you will find a special stylus pick to strum the guitar strings on the touch screen of the DS.
Unfortunately, the game does not support the new version of the handheld. Because the DSi doesn't have a GBA slot, gamers cannot attach the add-on controller that is necessary to play the game.
The game features a new form of non-linear play that allows you to take requests from your band's fans. Gamers can build up a fan base and end up rocking like Slash. Challenges include playing an entire song at hyperspeed, battling it out in a guitar duel or whammying every single hold note in a song.
Tracks that gamers can look forward to jamming include Coldplay's Violet Hill, Evanescence's Sweet Sacrifice, Fall Out Boy's This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race, the Foo Fighters' All My Life, Franz Ferdinand's The Fallen, the Kaiser Chiefs' Ruby, the Kooks' Always Where I Need to Be, Weezer's Everybody Get Dangerous and Wolfmother's Dimension.
