HONG KONG software developer Integrated Solutions (ISL) is launching a simplified Chinese version of its popular Manufacturing Information System (MIS) in an attempt to capture the Chinese market for enterprise management solutions. Developed to meet the ISO 9000 standards, the MIS solution is one of Hong Kong's most popular manufacturing management applications. Following the successful introduction of English and traditional Chinese-language versions, the new simplified Chinese character software is expected to establish ISL as a leading developer in southern China. Designed for medium-to-large-size manufacturers, MIS is a comprehensive package that provides complete control over a company's finance, materials, production and documentation. With an installed base of more than a 100, MIS has already proven a success in electronics, watch, toy and food industries. Built around a departmental model, MIS provides a simple and cost effective means of introducing a computerised solution. The system provides a centralised database which can be shared by the entire company. The traditional Chinese version of MIS allows on-screen conversion of characters. This new version was completely re-engineered using the National Standard Character set known as the GB Code. Multinational firms operating in Hong Kong and China are expected to be among the fist wave of customers for the latest version of MIS. ''Multinationals already know the value of a tightly integrated corporate information system and will appreciate the ability to operate in English, Chinese and simplified Chinese,'' the company said. ''But the biggest advantage of developing this new simplified Chinese version of MIS is that we are now in position to support the manufacturing industries of southern China which are developing at a rapid pace.'' In addition to developing a completely new set of simplified Chinese documentation, ISL has established a service centre in Shenzhen to provide support for customers in China.
