Guangdong-based Xingfa Aluminium Holdings plans to more than triple its annual production capacity by 2014 to capture rising demand from the construction and industrial sectors.
'We are in talks to set up new production bases in Jiangxi, Henan and Shandong provinces, in addition to the Sichuan one announced earlier,' chief financial officer Bobby Wong Siu-ki said.
Mr Wong said the company's annual production capacity was expected to reach 400,000 tonnes by 2014, from 120,000 tonnes at present.
Xingfa, which is moving its Guangdong plant from Chancheng to Sanshui, said in May that it would invest 1 billion yuan (HK$1.13 billion) to build a 100,000 tonne-a-year plant in Chengdu in Sichuan province, its first foray outside Guangdong.
After the move to Sanshui by the end of this year, Xingfa's capacity will reach 150,000 tonnes.
Mr Wong did not reveal the investment amount but said that on average it cost 4,000 to 5,000 yuan a tonne in terms of fixed-asset investment, including land, factory and machinery.
He said the company would fund new projects from internal cash flow and bank borrowing, while it could also raise money through share placements, depending on the market situation.
