AN accounts manager of the Dao Heng Bank Limited, accused of stealing $68 million from his employer over a four-year period, appeared in Eastern Court yesterday. Lo Wai-hung, 41, is charged with stealing the sum between 1990 and March 1994, at the bank at 71 Des Voeux Road Central. No pleas have been taken. Defence counsel Anthony K. K. Chan applied for bail on Lo's behalf, saying Lo could raise $800,000 in surety and $200,000 in cash. He said Lo, who was married, with a six-month-old baby, had to support his family and ageing parents. Magistrate Fergal Sweeney refused bail and remanded Lo in custody. The case was adjourned until Thursday to allow time for further investigation and legal advice.
