Mainland actor Liu Ye, 31, married French photographer Anais Martane in a private traditional Chinese ceremony in Beijing last Sunday.
'Anais is the best present I have ever received. I thank her for giving me confidence and courage. I will love her forever,' Liu said at the wedding, before kissing his bride, who wore a traditional Chinese bridal gown.
The pair (right) met in late 2006 at a social function and have since been spotted regularly holding hands at public events.
The actor earlier said his parents were initially concerned that they would be unable to communicate with their future daughter-in-law. But after learning that Martane could speak fluent Putonghua, they gave Liu their blessing to marry her.
Liu said Martane has taught him the importance of slowing down and enjoying life. The newlyweds will embark on a two-month honeymoon, starting with a small private wedding in France on Monday with Martane's family and friends.
Liu's publicist denied rumours that the actor would move to France after the nuptials. 'Liu Ye will not emigrate to France and he will never change his nationality. Right now work comes first for him because he and his wife have no plans to have children any time soon.'
