Resident numbers at Gateway Apartments have remained steady, even during the economic crisis, says senior manager Rene Holenweger. 'A lot of our residents are long-term, so we weren't that badly hit by the economy ... our serviced apartments offer a number of advantages, which also contributes to our steady number of guests,' he said. The Gateway Apartments is on the top 14 floors of the Harbour City Gateway Towers, and has the advantage of being above the shops of Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui. 'The residents can live in the comfort of having everything they need under one roof. It takes two minutes to go down to the supermarket and to the shopping mall, and another couple of minutes to get to the clubhouse. Some residents don't even have to travel to work because their offices are in the Gateway Towers,' Mr Holenweger said. Another advantage was that residents automatically receive The Pacific Club membership and enjoyed all of its facilities. According to Mr Holenweger, who is also general manager of the club, the value that residents get for their money was another reason why the number of guests had not dropped dramatically. Gateway has 499 serviced apartments with rooms more spacious than competitors for a similar price. Mr Holenweger said that Gateway was one of the few serviced apartment operations in Hong Kong that could offer two- and three-bedroom suites. He said 'unbeatable' service quality and maintenance standards ensured customer satisfaction and repeat business, with the same tenants returning each year. There has been a special promotion since March for Gateway's studio apartments due to increased competition from new serviced apartment operations.
