Legal eagle soars above HK pack

A SURVEY by the Asian Law Journal rates solicitors Baker and MacKenzie the most popular law firm operating in Hong Kong.

The company took 15 per cent of the votes in a survey of in-house counsel and directors at 900 territory firms who were asked to list the law firms they turned to most frequently.

Baker and MacKenzie was the only outright winner, the magazine reported.

Other firms were gathered into groups as the votes cast put them close together.

The magazine said the choice was not surprising because the US firm has the largest staff in Asia.

The nearest contenders were a group comprising Johnson Stokes and Master, Deacons, and Linklaters and Paines - all receiving close to nine per cent.
