The Hong Kong government has issued a travel alert, but travel agencies here say they have no plans to cancel tours to Indonesia.

The Chinese embassy in Jakarta said two Hong Kong residents requested help shortly after the explosions. Officers said the pair, who had stayed at the JW Marriott, were not wounded.

Yang Lingzhu, acting Chinese ambassador to Indonesia, said: 'Two Hong Kong residents came to us and showed us their identity cards. We processed their cases and issued them relevant papers to get back to Hong Kong.

'So far we have not been aware of deaths involving Chinese, Taiwanese, Hong Kong or Macau citizens.'

The Immigration Department confirmed, however, that a Hong Kong resident sustained minor injuries, but declined to give details. The traveller reportedly holds a Canadian passport and did not request assistance from either the Hong Kong government or the Chinese embassy.

The traveller was among at least 17 foreigners injured.
