Budding filmmakers exploiting YouTube to showcase their productions now have an even easier way to capture and post their videos. Samsung's HMX-U10 basically takes the concept of the point-and-shoot digital camera, and applies it to a high-definition camcorder that also includes a one-button upload feature for posting to YouTube. The ultra-compact HMX-U10 measures only 56mm x 103mm x 15.5mm, and weighs in at 95 grams - pretty much the same as most mobile phones today. Inside is a tiny CMOS sensor that gives you full HD video recording at 1920 x 1080 pixels, and 10-megapixel still photos. The HMX-10 is easy to use. There are three buttons for recording video, taking photos and video playback. There is also a navigation pad for the digital zoom and the HMX-U10's software, and of course, the button for uploading videos to YouTube when you are connected to the Internet. Everything is located below the 2-inch display for easy access. One of the neat features of the HMX-U10 is its intelli-studio software - an onboard application that includes features such as video file splitting, allowing the user to fine-tune their videos before posting them online. There is also an animated thumbnail feature, which makes it easier for amateur filmmakers to search through their footage when editing. The HMX-U10 is expected to hit the market in September. There's no word on pricing yet, but insiders are guessing it will be priced around the HK$1,500-HK$2,000 range, which is very reasonable for an HD camcorder that fits in your pocket. Pros: ultra-compact design, high-definition video support, 10MB still images, onboard editing software Cons: fixed-focus lens, no optical zoom, no manual modes, needs extra SDHC card for memory
