Top leaders pay respects at scholar's cremation
The body of famed linguist, scholar of ancient languages and writer Ji Xianlin was cremated in the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery yesterday, according to Xinhua. A dozen top leaders including Premier Wen Jiabao, Chinese People's Political Consultative Committee chairman Jia Qinglin and propaganda chief Li Changchun attended the ceremony to pay respects to Ji in the morning. Ji, who had worked at Peking University since 1946, died on July 11 at the age of 98. Kelly Chan
