Rita Lau begins four-day trip to Singapore on Apec business Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Rita Lau Ng Wai-lan begins a four-day trip to Singapore today to attend ministerial meetings of the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation Forum. Mrs Lau is expected to discuss with her counterparts measures to address the global economic crisis, restore economic growth, support the multilateral trading system and accelerate regional economic integration. While in Singapore, Mrs Lau would also exchange views with officials and business representatives, the government said. Scholarships for Taiwan students The University of Hong Kong will grant a total of HK$4.2 million worth of scholarships to attract applications from Taiwanese students. It has for the first time had a presence at an education expo in Taiwan to attract applicants. The scholarships of HK$140,000 a year will go to 10 high school graduates with outstanding academic records to cover their expenses during three years of study in Hong Kong.
