By now, everybody recognises 12-year-old Kenji Tang's face due to the MassMutual Jr Space Camp advertisements on buses, trams, the MTR and in newspapers.
Formerly a shy boy, Kenji's transformation into a confident junior astronaut is fitting for a programme with the slogan 'It is Possible!'
Kenji says he had been interested in space since he was a child and had wanted to win a place at the Jr Space Camp for a long time but didn't do anything about it until last year - after which he would have been too old to qualify.
'My brother tried a few years ago and could only get as far as the second round. I was afraid of losing so I didn't enrol. Last year was my last chance to join the programme and I thought I should give it a try regardless of whether I would be successful,' he says.
Open to children aged seven to 11, the programme involves three phases of interviews and Kenji was picked from more than 2,000 participants to be one of the 10 junior astronauts - up from six in previous years to mark the10th anniversary of the programme in Hong Kong.
This year's batch of six Hong Kong representatives was selected on July 2 and will be heading to the United States Space Camp, which is hosted by the US Space & Rocket Centre in Huntsville, Alabama.
Before they go, they will complete an Outward Bound course in Hong Kong.
