A 24-year-old man could have been so dazed by Ecstasy and ketamine that he forgot how he killed a 16-year-old compensated-dating girl in his bed before decapitating her, chopping her into pieces and flushing the pieces down a toilet, a court heard.

Ting Kai-tai, unemployed, told police he woke up at his dining table to find Wong Ka-mui lying dead on his bed with blood oozing from her mouth, the Court of First Instance was told yesterday. Some of her remains were later recovered from sewer pipes connected to the building in Sham Shui Po where Ting lived, prosecutor Derek Lai Kim-wah said.

Mr Lai was speaking at the opening of the trial of Ting on a charge of murder, which he has denied.

He said Ting at first told police he had thrown the whole body into the sea, but said later he had chopped the body into small pieces and flushed them down the toilet, and had dumped only the head in the sea.

In a record of an interview conducted on May 6 last year and read to the court, Ting said he could vaguely remember telephoning Wong and telling her to go to the small flat he rented with a friend in Yan Fat Building in Sham Shui Po on the afternoon of April 27 to have sex with him.

He said it was the first time he had seen Wong since meeting her in mid-April on a compensated-dating website, where she was known as Kiki.
