SINO Land is predicting a great deal of public interest when it begins leasing 1,200 flats at its Hong Kong Gold Coast development. The flats, measuring between 700 and 895 square feet, feature two-and three-bedroom units. Rental prices will vary between $8,400 and $11,000 per month. The Hong Kong Gold Coast development near Tuen Mun is a short boat ride away from the proposed Chek Lap Kok airport. The project is also along a number of mini-bus routes and is only about 10 minutes away from the Tsuen Wan Mass Transit Railway station. There is an existing ferry service linking the Gold Coast to Tsim Sha Tsui East. The trip takes about 30 minutes. Sino Land is also about to announce a new ferry service to Central. With these convenient transportation links, Sino Land officials are confident that the flats will be taken up very quickly. They anticipate that the flats will be popular among expatriates who prefer a more suburban or country lifestyle than can be found in more built up areas. People working on the new airport project would also find the location convenient, said the official. If required, a ferry link between the airport and the Gold Coast flats could be arranged, he said. Once the airport was constructed, Sino Land may consider setting up full service apartments for people who want to live close to the airport, officials said. They said residents would be able to take advantage of some of the best recreational facilities in Hong Kong. A tenants' clubhouse with tennis courts and a swimming pool is now under construction. There is also an exclusive yacht club and marina. Sino Land officials said it would also be possible for tenants to use many of the facilities of the Gold Coast Hotel and Convention Centre. One official said the flats would be popular because it was like resort living. ''People today are into a healthier lifestyle. Here, people have the hotel, the shopping centre, the restaurants, the yacht club, the tennis courts. It is all here.''
