The Art of the Tart Tamasin Day-Lewis First off, yes, Tamasin Day-Lewis is related to Daniel Day-Lewis - the British actor is her brother. She makes a couple of references to him in her excellent little book The Art of the Tart but nothing revealing, unfortunately. The book is filled with imaginative and tempting recipes for sweet and savoury tarts, including l'aligot (which has a rich filling of potatoes, garlic, cream and cheese); monkfish tart with bearnaise sauce; smoked haddock and watercress tart; lemon meringue pie; tarte aux pommes; and bakewell tart. She also has a section on 'other people's tarts' that includes 'cousin Deborah's' cheese strata; Simon Hopkinson's chocolate tart (now a staple in this writer's tart repertoire); Sally Clarke's prune tart; Nigella Lawson's rhubarb meringue pie; and Claudia Roden's sutlu borek (cream-cheese bake with filo pastry).
