The Housing Authority agreed yesterday to offer metal security gates free of charge to about 7,600 households in 27 public housing estates. The flats on these estates, all of which were completed between 2003 and last year, were not equipped with metal gates at the time of construction. The authority decided earlier this year to in future provide the gates at new developments because of tenants' concerns about home security.
