It looks like your average portable media player or mobile phone, but the Kodak Zi8 is one powerful entry-level camcorder.
Despite its tiny size and point-and-shoot nature, the Zi8 gives you many of the key features that you need to make great videos, including full HD 1,080p video recording, or 5 Mega-pixel stills, the ability to plug in an external microphone (this means that the built-in mike is not up to standard), and an image stabiliser to lessen the impact of hands shaking.
The Zi8 isn't intended for professionals, but it offers one of the best performances for sites like YouTube or Facebook, both of which you can now enjoy one-button upload to with software inside the Zi8.
The Zi8 has many tricks under its cover. Instead of a cumbersome cable for connecting to your PC, the Zi8 has a flip out USB plug. It comes with a remote control, so you can set it up and record from a distance or do a self-portrait.
And if you want to watch your HD footage on your TV, there's an HDMI cable that comes with the Zi8.
Even the lens, which is fixed focus to keep the size down, is not bad for a pocket camcorder, offering a wide aperture of f2.8 - so you need less light while shooting. The Zi8 is scheduled to launch next month for about HK$1,400.
