A 12-year-old girl was among 12 people in court yesterday for alleged drug- and triad-related activities in Fanling and Sheung Shui. 
The 12 defendants, aged 12 to 36, included nine teenagers.
They were brought to Fanling Court  to face charges of trafficking in Ice, ketamine and Ecstasy.
Police arrested them in an undercover operation between April and this month. Prosecutors told the court that two police-marked HK$50 banknotes were retrieved from one of the defendants. 
No plea was taken and all the cases were adjourned to September 21 pending legal advice and laboratory reports. 
The Form One student was jointly charged with a Form Three girl, 15, with one count of trafficking in a small amount of ketamine they allegedly sold outside a public-housing block in Tin Ping Estate in Sheung Shui on April 29. 
The 15-year-old faced two more charges of trafficking in ketamine in the same housing estate on two other occasions in April and June. Their proceedings   will be  held in a juvenile court.
Two 14-year-olds were charged with trafficking in Ecstasy in a shopping arcade in Ka Fuk Estate in Fanling on July 11. Each count involved half or one tablet of the drug. 
Their case involved transport worker Wong Chun-kit, 17, who faced two charges of trafficking in seven Ecstasy tablets he allegedly offered to sell on July 11 and 16 in the same area. 
Another two teenagers, Hui Chi-wai, 16, and Yung Chun-tat, 19, together with a 15-year-old girl faced one joint count of trafficking in ketamine in Sheung Shui's Ching Ho Estate  on June 29. The girl also faced another count of trafficking in ketamine on June 17. 
Form Three student Lau Yuk-leung, 16, was charged with two counts of trafficking in ketamine  in the same estate in July and August.
Unemployed  Ng Chi-keung, 18, was charged with three counts of trafficking in ketamine and one count of claiming to be a member of the Wo Shing Wo  triad society. 
Lee Kin-chung, 31, unemployed, and businessman Chan Pong-ping, 36, were jointly charged with trafficking in Ice outside a  Sheung Shui restaurant on July 31. Lee faced one other count of trafficking in Ice on July 9 and two charges of possessing Ice and a 45cm beef knife in a Sheung Shui store on Thursday.
