This hi-tech ingredient is a core component in a new cosmeceutical range, Cosmedicine (which has proprietary rights over the name). It's said to induce the plumping of skin and is touted as a 'topical version of injectable wrinkle fillers' as it can hold 4,000 to 5,000 times its weight in water, the company says.
Sodium hyaluronate (minus the crosspolymer distinction) - the salt of hyaluronic acid - is a more common ingredient seen in anti-ageing and cosmetic products and can be used in face creams, sunscreens and acne treatments. Sodium hyaluronate is considered a natural moisturising component.
