The Hong Kong Q-Mart Quality Living Zone is organised by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries to promote local Q-licensee companies. 'We want to emphasise that all of the products in Q-Mart are made by Hong Kong companies in China, so a high standard is guaranteed,' said Dennis Yau, the federation's director-general.

There will be more than 40 showrooms for Q-licensee companies to retail directly to visitors and traders, and there is also a central display gallery called the Quali-Living Gallery featuring a model house that boasts the chic Hong Kong lifestyle. All of the goods in the showroom are made by Q-licensee companies and will be available for sale.

Forty-one companies, comprising well-known brands, export brands and emerging local brands, will be taking part. Sasa Cosmetics, A-Fontane, German Pool, Temporis and Harbour Cruise Bauhinia will be among the well-known brands.

The federation plans to target visitors from the mainland. Through Q-Mart, it hopes that the visitors will be awestruck by the display gallery and realise that a high standard of living does not necessarily have to be expensive.

Mr Yau said the federation had high hopes that the fair, which will mark the first time it has worked with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, would be a success despite the economic crisis and swine flu.

'We have great confidence in the drawing power of the Food Expo, that will be held at the same time, due to the guaranteed food quality in Hong Kong,' Mr Yau said. 'And we expect visitors to the Food Expo to attend the Lifestyle Showcase as well, so we are not worried about the visitor turnout.'
