Singer Eason Chan Yik-shun has blamed the media for fabricating rumours of an affair between him and fellow singer Kay Tse On-kay.

'There is nothing going on between me and Kay,' Chan said at a promotional event this week, referring to recent reports suggesting both married singers had had developed an affair.

Chan (right with Tse) married retired actress Hilary Tsui Ho-ying in 2006 and they have a five-year-old daughter, Constance, while Tse married local singer-songwriter, Louis Cheung Kai-chung in January 2007. The couple have a two-year-old son, James.

Chan said he was in Taiwan when the rumours surfaced and he didn't have the chance to clarify them to the local press.

'I still don't quite understand how the story could turn out this way. Kay and I might have posed in several pictures together at events as requested by reporters, but they just made up stories about us with those pictures. It is quite frustrating,' he said.

'I really don't care about all these gossip reports because they are just pointless and what I do is to have a good laugh at this news. But sometimes when a lie has been told over and over, people will start to believe that it is true. And I think it will be awkward if I see Kay again.'
