The three-day Congress Programme, which will take place at the AsiaWorld-Expo on the same level as the main exhibition, is expected to attract more than 300 business leaders from the international commercial aerospace and civil aviation community.

'The congress will cover three major themes,' said Richard Thiele, head of global sales, aerospace and aviation at Reed Exhibitions.

'The first day will focus on future aerospace and air transport trends; the second on engine technologies; and the final day will look at the outlook for air transport infrastructure.'

Leaders from the mainland's aviation industry will be discussing the mainland's current and future strategies, and the opportunities for East-West partnerships.

The afternoon session will concentrate on evolving airline models in Asia-Pacific. The impact that the financial crisis has had on the industry will be addressed by Andrew Herdman, director general of the Association of Asia-Pacific Airlines. A keynote speech by Tony Tyler, chief executive of Cathay Pacific, will focus on how the airline is developing its strategies in response to the economic climate.
