THE territory's distance runners Lee Kar-lun and Maggie Chan Man-yee have a chance to represent Hong Kong at September's World Half Marathon in Oslo, Norway.
As an added incentive to this month's Mizuno Hong Kong Half Marathon at Tai Po, the winners of the men's and women's open races will win a ticket to Oslo to take on the best in the world.
Lee has been one of the leading men's distance runners this season while Chan, who earlier this year trained with famed Chinese coach Ma Junren, has dominated local races.
Both will be among the favourites to win their respective races and represent Hong Kong in Oslo.
More than 400 entries are expected for the April 24, 21.098-kilometre race which takes in Brides Pool Road, Luk Kent and Wu Kau Tang on its rectangular course.
William Ko Wai-lim, chairman of the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association, said he hopes that runners will take advantage of this race after the cancellation earlier this year of the annual Hong Kong-Shenzhen marathon because local organisers were unable to come to an agreement with their mainland counterparts.
