The soundtrack to Hannah Montana: The Movie contains 18 tracks, but clocks in at just over an hour. The movie is about 16-year old Miley Cyrus and her alter ego Hannah Montana. For many young listeners, this infectious album will be their first taste of country music.
But it's not all country. Butterfly Fly Away is a sweet duet between Miley and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, and the album also includes several guitar and drum-based pop songs, along with piano-based opening ballad The Climb.
Overall, this is a great and varied selection of songs written by Steve Rushton, Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift. It's worth listening to regardless of whether you're into the Hannah Montana phenomenon.
Miley is generally seen as the next Hilary Duff, but she has a far more impressive voice, and it is at its best in Dream. With Hoedown Throwdown, it's hard t resist the call of your feet as Miley tells you to 'Pop it, lock it, polka dot it/Countrify then hip hop it'.
The two Rascal Flatts songs and those by the little-known Steve Rushton are excellent. But the album's weak track is country starlet Taylor Swift's Crazier.
This is not just for country fans - there is something for everyone.
