Initial Cafe G/F, 48 Cameron Road Tsim Sha Tsui Tel: 2311 4223 Vibe: Initial started out as a fashion chain, then opened a cafe at one of their branches. The eatery is located in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui with an Initial shop at the back. The interior decoration is unique and stylish, offering customers a 'double delight' - good food and shopping. The atmosphere is relaxing - a perfect place to chill out after shopping on a hot Saturday afternoon. The innovative combination of a cafe and fashion boutique allows customers to check out clothes while waiting for seats. The cafe also includes wifi services. Grub: Serves simple Japanese and Western food, including salad, pasta, noodle soup, sandwiches, cakes, and beverages like coffee and soda. The noodle soup is quite Japanese. Who to bring: Your shopping buddy for sure or someone with whom you want to spend a laid-back afternoon. Seats are limited so it is easier for the staff to serve small groups. What's hot: The drinks are fresh and reasonably priced. The pasta is made in the open kitchen after you order. The scallops and fish are fresh and tasty while the cream sauce on pasta has the right texture and is not too thick. The mocha smoothie is yummy. The cafe also serves cakes and sweet treats like ice cream and waffles. There are no meal sets on Saturday or Sunday so it is cheaper if you visit on weekdays. What's not: The mocha smoothie comes with chocolate sprinkled over it. It would have tasted much better with small chunks of chocolate instead. The portions are small - and expensive. Cost: Drinks are around HK$30-HK$40 each. Expect to spend about HK$50-HK$100, including food, depending on how much you order.
