Shoko Nakagawa, 24, has managed to accomplish a great deal in a short time. Since her debut in 2001 as a media personality, Nakagawa has proved that she is not just another cute face with no skills. She has managed to transform her popularity into a successful career as a J-pop idol and voice actress, as well as an illustrator with her own superhero. Nakagawa, who started her career as a celebrity guest on television variety shows, is an otaku and avid cosplay enthusiast. In 2005, she gained a regular spot on Osama no Brunch that increased her popularity with the Japanese public. She is also a prolific blogger and provides regular updates on everything she does and thinks. At one point, she reached around 600 updates a month. One day, she managed to post 70 updates. Her extensive blogging has led her to being crowned the 'New Queen of the Blog'. Launched in 2004, her blog has been accessed more than a billion times. Nakagawa released her first CD single - Brilliant Dream - in 2006 and it did reasonably well. However, she didn't find musical success until 2007's Sky-Blue Days (Sora-iro Deizu) - the theme song for the popular anime Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Recently she attended the Ani-Com and Games convention in Hong Kong, where she sang a few of her songs. In the middle of her performance, Nakagawa wowed her Hong Kong fans with some fancy kung-fu moves, twirling a set of pink, fur-covered nun-chuks, as the crowd roared. In an interview with Sunday Young Post, the Japanese idol said both she and her mother were Bruce Lee fans. When asked if she was aware of any other Hong Kong celebrities besides Lee and Jackie Chan, Nakagawa confessed to being a fan of singer/actor Aaron Kwok. 'I really like Aaron Kwok. I've been into him since high school. I also like [actor] Stephen Chow,' she said. Would she consider marrying a Hong Kong man? 'Oh Yes! But I have to be able to live in Japan as well as in Hong Kong. I can't be away from the world of anime and manga.' Asked what type of guy she likes, Nakagawa said: 'Oh the Aaron Kwok and Bruce Lee type. I really like guys with thick eyebrows.' Her latest single Antenna of the Heart (Kokoro no Antena) is the ending theme to the 12th Pokemon film, Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl: Arceus' Conquering of Space-Time. Nakagawa also voices the part of Notch-Eared Pichu, a female Pichu and friend of Pikachu. The single is now available at local record stores.
