ONE of the best young players in Hong Kong, Kitchee sweeper Yau Kin-wai, is set for a summer move to South China.
The 21-year-old defender, who is in his third season in the First Division, has been made attractive offers by South China and Instant-Dict but has decided to join the Caroliners.
Speaking after yesterday's First Division game against Kui Tan at Mongkok Stadium, Yau said: ''I have the choice between South China and Instant-Dict.
''They are both big clubs but South China is the most famous club in Hong Kong and I think the future will be more secure there.
''After one season with Kui Tan and two with Kitchee, I feel I am ready to play for a top club. I want to play in cup finals, not just watch them on television.'' With South China's veteran skipper and sweeper, Ku Kam-fai, in splendid form this season, Yau accepts he may have to play at right-back.
''I want to play sweeper but I may have to wait because Ku Kam-fai is playing so well,'' he added.
