With the trend of expecting mothers booking a Caesarian section months in advance, fung shui masters are increasingly being consulted as to when new additions to the family should be delivered. This involves consulting astrological birth charts for various dates then identifying the one that is most appropriate. This will determine a child's destiny, so must be carried out by an experienced consultant. From a fung shui perspective, the main consideration is that the child's chart should not clash with those of its parents. Timings that will produce an individual with as few health problems as possible are given preference over those that would provide opportunities for wealth and success. The master will also try to minimise the period of time in which an individual will have bad luck. Masters are constrained by practical considerations, of course - it is doubtful parents will be able to book a birth in the early hours of a Sunday morning, for example - and there may be unforeseen circumstances such as power outages and traffic jams that will scupper the best-laid plans. But such things fall within the heaven-luck component of a person's life; if a child isn't 'meant' to be born at a certain time, it won't happen.
