We've heard about firemen rushing to rescue that little old lady's cat stuck up a tree.
But rescuing a bird - and its owner - up a tree?
That was what happened after a bird lover found himself in trouble yesterday when he went out on a limb to retrieve his wayward parrot, only to find himself trapped 10 metres above the ground.
Police received an SOS call at 9am made from a tree where the man, surnamed Chan and aged 36, said he was stuck after pursuing the parrot named Birdie. Birdie had given him the slip, leaving him too scared to climb down.
No fewer than 12 firemen in two fire engines, and an ambulance, were sent to the scene of the drama in Waterloo Road, Yau Ma Tei.
Chan, in shorts and a T-shirt, was found standing on a branch and refusing to come down.
After some coaxing he agreed that a fireman could come up to rescue him from his perch, which was slippery after rain.
