A group of Hongkongers concerned about the impact of giant infrastructure projects have set up a group called Slow Development HK.

The group is calling for slow development because they believe many infrastructure projects in Hong Kong are moving ahead too fast, with little consideration of the impact on the environment and society.

The first infrastructure project the group is calling on to be stopped is the construction of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link.

The group is accusing the MTR Corp of hiding negative impacts in its environmental impact assessment report.

'It is stated in the report that the construction project doesn't have a bad impact on the environment. But the report did point out the project would affect the quality of the underground water. It definitely affects the environment. The report is contradictory,' said group spokesperson Wincy So Wing-sze.

She also pointed out that the report ignores noise pollution.
