Celebrities show their love for Sichuan
A leading magazine has tapped the creativity of some local stars to help victims of the Sichuan earthquake and celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Cosmopolitan magazine, which is part of the SCMP Group, has invited 25 local celebrities, including singers, actors and illustrators, to design their own T-shirts based on the theme of 'big love' and organised a 'ChariTee Sale' to raise funds for the South China Morning Post's Homes for Hope project to help Sichuan earthquake survivors.
The 25 T-shirt participants have interpreted the theme with a variety of patterns, cartoon figures, pictures and graffiti, all created or photographed by themselves.
Fans and shoppers packed the ChariTee Sale booth at Festival Walk as some of the T-shirt designers turned up at the opening of the charity campaign to autograph their creations.
Many people bought the limited-edition T-shirts, priced at HK$180 each.
'Originality was the only requirement we asked of the designers. They are free to paint anything they want,' said Cosmopolitan assistant general manager Amy Cheng.
Among the artists was actress Annie Liu Hsin-you who was proud to complete her first drawing on a T-shirt - a giant panda eating bamboo amid grasslands. 'The panda idea came up as soon as I started work,' she said.
